As a Utah-local company, our customers aren’t just customers – they’re our neighbors, too. So rest assured that we put every bit of care we can to keep Salt Lake looking great, and these reviews prove it.
The overall transformation and quality from Renovation by Burbach looks phenomenal when comparing how the house was before to how it is now. The existing material was starting to rot, paint was peeling off, and other areas seemed like it was starting to fall apart (the house is over 100 years old). Removing some of the old material and replacing the whole exterior with new material, we feel confident that the house will last for many years to come (structurally and aesthetically). There was a line of communication via group text between me and my husband (homeowners), Chris (sales/design consultant), Jason (operations manager), and Jay (project manager/foreman). Jay was quite friendly and understanding while coordinating with us and the installers. Chris was clear on going over everything at the start of the project, any change orders, and any communication all the way until the end of the project. If you are doing a renovation, be aware of any pre-existing conditions that may come up that couldn’t be seen prior to demolition of removing old existing material. Our house had some rotting wood and water damage under some of the exterior materials. There wasn’t enough contingency in the estimate to replace the damaged materials, so it resulted in a change order. It is best if you are as specific as possible and know exactly what you want at the beginning to avoid any change orders. Provide any sketches or drawing layout ideas you may have (send through group text and/or email). When you do a walk through at the start of the project, I recommend to send them a follow-up text or email of any final decisions that were made to confirm any verbal decisions. For our project, there was a misunderstanding about the door trim. We envisioned the door trim to be the full length of the door while they envisioned the trim only running down to the stone sills (most likely a misunderstanding from a verbal miscommunication error). We provided exterior elevation drawings showing that the door trim is the same length as the doors (while window trim only went down to the stone sills). Even though they had to make some adjustments (cutting some of the stone back after it was installed), they honored the style we were looking for. There was a minor issue with a new window (wrong style and it was damaged), but they were able to replace and install a different new window with no hesitations. They took the time to properly fix existing damages, installing waterproof barrier, sealing the holes (from staples), installing lath, water runnoffs, scratch coat, mortar, stone, stucco, aluminium trim (soffit and facia), and James Hardie trim (around doors and windows). Keep in mind, your site project is not their only project (same goes for any renovation company). With that being said, the project took longer than anticipated. It was estimated to take about a month and it took closer to five months. We appreciate that it wasn’t a rush job (we’re not going anywhere seems how we already live in the house) and anyone on site appeared to take pride in their work. However, it would’ve been better if we knew what days they plan / don’t plan on being here (other than just regular weekend off time and possible bad weather) - or at least a weekly update. There were times when there wasn’t anyone here for a few days to a whole week. Other times, there’d be only one person here for a couple of hours. Besides that, there were days where they were here for majority of the day and got a decent amount of work done. Eventually, we plan on building a detached garage and we’d like to have Renovation by Burbach take on the exterior finishes to match the house. We recommend Renovation by Burbach for exterior renovations.
Ashlee and Jason and jay were all great to work with. The communication was easy and great. The work completed by the crew looks amazing. Definitely recommend this company
We are very happy that we chose Renovation by Burbach for the installation of James Hardie plank on our new construction project. My salesman, Chris stayed in touch with me from beginning to end and delivered what he promised. All of the crews were skilled craftsmen that left me with a 1st class job. I would definitely recommend Burbach.
Had a great experience. Our salesman Chris Clark was with us from beginning to end. Enjoying our beautiful siding and home. They are an excellent company.
Chris at Burbach was amazing from start to finish on our project. We absolutely love our new exterior and the high quality products. The very few concerns were resolved quickly and professionally. All of the workers were skilled in their craft and always treated us respectfully! Thank you Chris Clark for a fantastic experience!
Burbach did an amazing job on the front of our home. Chris was great to work with, and made himself available for all of our questions, right up until the end of the process. We had a fantastic experience from start to finish. Thank you!
We appreciate our sales person Chris Clark being available throughout the process. The crew was amazing and the house turned out great. We are very pleased.
Quality work. Very responsive to customer wishes. For instance, found a way to retain old siding under new, saving me money and retaining a layer of insulation. Flexible and accommodating. Great.
Renovation by Burbach did a fantastic job on the exterior of our home. We love the colors of our siding and trim. They also installed new windows. When two of the windows they ordered were the wrong size, they did a quick turn around to get the right sized ones ordered and delivered to install. We’ve had many neighbors and friends give compliments on the work done on our home. We were also pretty happy with the professionalism of their workers.
My experience with Burbach was positive. Chris C. was responsive and helpful from the estimate to completion. I would recommend this company to my neighbors.
Chris is your guy to get you beautiful Hardie Board great sales person not pushy gave me a great price can't wait to see finale !!!!
Renovation by Burbach replaced the siding on my house this spring. Brad Nelson assisted me from start to finish on this project. At every interaction he was very courteous and helpful. I believe his experience and advice contributed greatly to the success of the project.
Just had gutters replaced on my home. Sales rep Chris explained everything and took care of all the details. They were efficient and cleaned up everything. I would recommend this company.
Paige, specifically was absolutely amazing. We tried for almost 2 years to get our siding fixed. We tried 3 or 4 different companies and we had no luck. I was about to give up and just cover with tarp. But it made our home look disgusting and like we didn't care. Paige was our saving grace. She came out and looked at our house and seriously within a week, she communicated with our Insurance and got our siding covered. The siding was ordered and took a really long time to get in. But she handled MY frustrations like a champ. I'm so grateful for her and this company for repairing our home. I highly recommend their services. 🤓😊
Burbach's home renovation team is exceptional! They're not only professional and affordable, but knowledgable in the best way to repair home exterior issues. I couldn't be more impressed with their expertise and friendly service - highly recommend!
UPDATED 2024 review: I needed additional stucco repair on my condo, so we called Burbach out to our home again because we had such a great experience with them the first time. They continued to exceed our expectations. They answer the phone when I call, getting our bid was fast, and they completed the work very quickly. The workers were 5 minutes early, very nice, and did exceptional work. I look forward to the next time we need Burbach's help. 2020 review: Our condo HOA said that we needed to repair our stucco. Burbach is a wonderful, dependable business who answers the phone when I call, and provided expert repair to our home's exterior. I'll return to them next time. Thanks!
The process with Burbach Exteriors was easy. They cared to listen and had a customer-centric approach to making sure that we were happy with the final product. They were fast, efficient, and the finished product turned out lovely. We would definitely recommend them to anyone. Great price, and great work!
Burbach installed siding on our office building. It made a huge difference in the appearance. We have been very pleased with their service.
We needed rock removed and replaced with James Hardie board. The guys did an excellent job of removing the rock and inspecting the wood. The Hardie board installation was done and the finished work looks better than we expected. It is excellent. The workers removed all debris and rock and you can’t even tell they were here. Great workers and great company to work with. Their customer service was exceptional.
Needed soffit repaired - they performed the job in a professional manor. They knew what to do and did a top notch job. Employees from the office to the field worker are a cut above. Most professional company I spoke with when getting bids. PLUS - they were referred by the BBB.
Six years ago we had our home completely remodeled outside with new James Hardie siding, trim and rain gutters with Dutch Quality Stone with Renovation By Burbach. We love the look and the durability of our exterior renovation! Recently, however, a small section of the black facia came loose on the upstairs roofline, most likely from the wind we have been experiencing. I spoke with Brandon at Renovation by Burbach and he was able to send Luke and Zach to make the necessary repair. He took time to understand our concern and was most helpful. I called on Monday and Brandon was able to adjust schedules and have them here on Wednesday. They were professional, friendly, and extremely careful with a very tall ladder in our front garden area, They quickly secured the facia back in place and also took time to look around the roof gables and repaired a loose shingle. They even removed some accumulated leaves in the rain gutter on the way down. Luke and Zach were awesome! I encourage anyone thinking of a new and improved look for their home with quality workmanship to contact Brandon at Renovation by Burbach. I am pleased to recommend them.
Renovation By Burbach is a first rate, quality contractor. My wife & I could not be more pleased with the complete remodel of the exterior of our home performed by Burbach. From our first contact with Burbach, which was Ryan our sales representative to Brandon our project manager to the actual tradesman who worked on our home to the completion of the project everyone was great. Ryan, Brandon and the Tradesman were genuine in giving us exactly what we wanted for the exterior of our home. In fact, they were so attentive to us and our vision that it felt like they had a personal interest in our home. They installed a completely new exterior on our home, which included the following: *James Hardie Siding, Lap, Batten Board & Shake. *Stucco, all old material was removed down to the OSB Sheeting and then new paper, wire, base coat and color coat were applied. *Soffit & Fascia, which included all of the house, garage and decks. *Rock Work. *Exterior Paint. *Rain Gutters. My wife & I would completely recommend, without reservation Ryan, Brandon and their crews.
I have been working with Burbach for years both as a contractor and they have done work for my personal home. On all accounts the Burbach Team is one of the best Contractors I have worked with. I recently hired them for some exterior work on my house and I couldn't be happier with the install. Clean, professional, courteous, and my house looks AMAZING! Thanks Jaren for taking the extra care on my house!!
The paint crew did an excellent job. No issues whatsoever. Masked everything very well. Didn’t trample plants or leave any trash.
Very professional and personable from start to completion. Jaren and his lead man helped us in the selection and warranty issues in picking our board and batten product. Samples were provided giving us a preview of color and outcome. Installation of batten and windows was applied without issues. Top quality journeymen level application and again very helpful in our expectations. Very timely response in all services. These guy’s are good and I would recommend them highly. Thank you Jaren and your team. Dale and Vickie Hoskins
These days it's hard to find a good company to provide home renovation services. Luckily for us we had found Renovation by Burbach! They were able to completely transform the exterior of our home to something we are truly proud of. As far as workmanship, they were able to fix items that our custom home builder had completely messed up! Thanks again to Renovation by Burbach, Paige and Brandon for helping us take our home to the next level!
I couldn't be more pleased with my siding experience with Renovation by Burbach. I got estimates from several companies. Burbach's was competitive and better than a couple. I decided to go with them because of the stellar estimating process I had with Paige. She had a great computer program that probably saved me from making some poor choices in color and trim. The installers, Joe and Mike, obviously had a lot of experience, were efficient and answered all my questions. Overall it was a much better experience than I expected when I started the estimate process. I would definitely recommend Renovation by Burbach.
We had Burbach rip off our old wood siding, install new hardie siding, add new soffit, fascia and gutters. They also painted our whole house. They did everything in a timely manner which is huge when getting remodeling done. The workmanship and attention to detail was on point and they were great to work with. Paige did our bid and was the person we communicated with during the whole process. I loved that she was a female because she was also able to help me make decision on design and colors. Whenever I hire men to do handy work they cannot help me with anything except for the actual labor. Therefore, I felt Paige was an asset not only to the company but to me and all the decisions I had to make. She was also great to communicate with because she always got right back to me and if there was a problem she would resolve the issue promptly. I have never worked with a woman in this line of work and I will literally go back to Burbach for more work if she is still working there. She was the reason everything was expedited with such professionalism. I highly recommend Burbach and most definitely recommend you ask to work with Paige specifically.
We had Burbach come and replace a gutter. The technicians were very friendly and knowledgeable. The customer service was great as well. They came and fixed the problem when they said they would.
Renovation by Burbach did an amazing job with a complete makeover on our bay window with soffit and fascia, and stucco. In the process their “artisan craftsmen” corrected original construction errors from when the home was built 34 years ago. They also repaired the top of our cinderblock wall in the backyard, with new concrete caps, and it looks so clean and sharp – better than ever before. What a great company to work with, and very reasonable pricing that didn’t break the bank. We will use them again when we redo the soffit, fascia, and gutter around the entire home this next year. We highly recommend them! Thanks!!!
Renovation by Burbach did an excellent job of repairing my leaking roof. Their work was done promptly and efficiently. The area repaired looks good and is holding up well with all the recent rainfall we have received. The workers were friendly and explained what they were doing to correct the leakage problem. I would recommend them for outside work on your home.
Jaren was excellent. He gave us a fair quote and they completed the work on time. They were very available and easy to ask questions to. They did stucco work, gutter and fascia work for us as well. They all did an excellent job. Would highly recommend them.
My experience was overall excellent. Brad explained and showed us exactly what they would do. The quality of work seems very high and they seem to hit every detail. They did exactly what they said they would do and the price I felt was fair for the work. Whenever we had questions they quickly got back to us and communication was never a problem even when I was out of town the whole time they worked on my home. I could only do the front of my house this time but definitely down the road if I do the back of my house I will be calling on them again. We are very happy with the results and overall great experience working with them. I would recommend.
Brad and the entire team and process went seamlessly. The estimate had no hidden costs and all of the laborers were so nice, professional and hard working. Brad was on the other end of the phone with any questions I had and they were able to easily work with me after I changed my mind on a couple of ideas I had. I would give my highest recommendation for Burbach Exteriors.
We shopped around for the right company to finish out our detached garage and we picked Burbach for our Hardy board. The did a fabulous job, priced right and we never had to call and have them fix anything!
We hired Burbach to do a small patch on the back of our home. This was a very small job but, it was extremely time sensitive for us in order to complete a refinance. Steven came out and gave me a bid on the job. They weren't the cheapest but, I was left feeling like they were the most professional and trustworthy. After explaining the time sensitivity regarding the repair, I was assured the job would be done. They exceeded my expectations with their timeliness, professionalism and quality of work. Again, this was a very small job so I don't expect they made much money off it but, I was left feeling like my business mattered to them and the work performed was top notch. We intend to re-stucco our entire home and will definitely use Burbach for future our renovations.
Renovation By Burback just completed an amazing facelift to our home including new Hardie Board, seamless rain-gutter, facia and soffit and painting the remaining stucco with Loxon paint. Brad was great to work with getting things started, Wilbur and Robert did most of the work and they couldn't have been more professional and considerate, while Brandon the project manager ensured the whole project went without a glitch. The end result is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS AND WE COULDN'T BE HAPPIER! Richard & Pam, Sandy, UT
They were professional, efficient, and did a really good job. Everyone I worked with was polite and they informed me of what they were doing and they cleaned up when they left. It has rained multiple times since and my gutters are working great.
Burbach Exteriors did an exceptional job with removing and replacing the existing siding. Over the course of the project, they encountered less than favorable conditions as the temperatures were cold, yet they continued to work and provide a quality project that has totally changed our home. The face lift is amazing, the neighbors and local people that pass by provide us with wonderful comments and how nice the home looks. Thank you Burbach!
Burbach's Exteriors installed new soffits, facia, rock columns, windows, and copper raingutters on my 100 year old Tudor home near the University of Utah. It gave my old home a much needed facelift and fixed the problem of moisture near my foundation, and drafts through the old wooden windows. Their work was professional and quick. I highly recommend Burbach's for any of your home remodeling needs. 5 stars!!!!
This company is amazing, Excellent customer service, and they really listened to our needs and concerns which is so important when dealing with our most precious investment, our home. They kept us involved as much as we wanted and They also educated us in the construction process and never kept us in the dark like most companies. It was so hard to find a company that cared about our home as much as we do, But they did.
The entire experience was pleasant. From choosing the siding and getting HOA persmission, and then scheduling the install was super easy. The crew was efficient and tidy, and the end result is perfect. My neighbors have commented--and I told them who did the work. Thank you!
The exterior of our home was dated and had seen better days. The stucco was rotting and we knew something needed to be done but we weren't sure what our options were. From our first meeting with Burbach they were incredibly professional and knowledgeable. They came to our home and walked around the property helping us to visualize what different materials would look like. They even noticed some drainage problems due to a faulty rain gutter joint that they were able to fix as a part of the project. The project crew respected our home and yard during the demolition and construction and even took care to avoid banging near our youngest child's room during nap time (they worked on a different part of the house until we gave them the all clear). At the conclusion of the project our project manager came back and did a final walk through. There were a couple of things he noticed that weren't quite right, and within a day he had a crew back out to our home to fix the issues and finish everything up. I highly recommend Renovation by Burbach! Although their bid was a bit higher than others, they use higher quality materials, which is noticeable. They care about the job and do what they need to do to ensure a happy customer. I would 100% call them for future exterior construction needs.
Why Ignoring Stucco Problems Costs More Than You Think

When stucco starts to crack, stain, or pull away from the wall, it is not just a cosmetic issue. Those small problems are often the first signs that water is getting where it should not, or that the original installation was not done right. If you ignore them, the damage almost always spreads.
Here is the thing.
Hairline cracks and surface flaws are often easy to repair if you catch them early. But left alone, moisture can get into the wall system, rot can develop behind the stucco, and repairs become far more invasive and expensive. What started as a few cracks can turn into framing repairs, sheathing replacement, and full tear-off costs.
Traditional stucco is incredibly durable when it is designed, installed, and maintained correctly. The real risk is waiting too long to get a professional opinion. Our team can walk your exterior with you, explain what is going on, and help you decide whether repair, resurfacing, or a full traditional three-coat system is the right move.
Traditional Stucco Solutions and Benefits
Built For Utah Weather
Traditional three-coat stucco holds up to Utah’s intense sun, temperature swings, and freeze-thaw cycles when it is installed the right way. The cement-based system creates a tough, breathable exterior that protects your home or building season after season.
True Three-Coat Craftsmanship
We install traditional hard coat stucco using a scratch coat, brown coat, and finish coat over the proper lath and moisture management system. Each coat is applied by hand by experienced craftsmen, which gives you a stronger wall and a more consistent finish than quick, shortcut methods.
Custom Textures and Timeless Curb Appeal
Stucco does not have to look flat or dated. We offer smooth trowel, dash, lace and skip trowel, Santa Barbara finishes, and more. You can choose a classic Mediterranean look, a clean modern profile, or something that fits your neighborhood perfectly. The result is a custom exterior that actually fits your style.

Honest Guidance and Clear Communication
From the first visit to final walkthrough, you will know what is happening and why. We explain your options, walk you through pricing, and keep you updated throughout the project. If something unexpected shows up behind the stucco, we talk it through before we move forward. No surprises, no disappearing crews.

Our Process: The Burbach Way For Traditional Stucco
A successful stucco project is all about preparation, planning, and consistent communication. Here is how we typically work with homeowners and property owners.

1. Free On Site Consultation
We meet you at your home or building in Salt Lake City or the surrounding area. We walk the exterior with you, listen to your concerns, and inspect your existing stucco or exterior materials. You will get honest feedback, not a sales script. If you are just starting to plan, our article on planning stucco repair? wait can also help you think through timing and scope.
2. Design, Texture, And Color Planning
Once we understand your goals and the condition of your exterior, we help you choose textures, finishes, and colors that fit your architecture and neighborhood. We can show you real world samples and examples from past projects so you can see what you are getting before we start. Homeowners often pair this step with reading about how to pick the color of your home’s exterior.
3. Clear, Written Proposal
You receive a detailed proposal that outlines the scope of work, materials, texture and color choices, timeline, and investment. If there are options, we walk through them with you so you can decide what makes the most sense for your budget and long term plans.
4. Preparation And Protection
Before any stucco work begins, we protect your windows, doors, landscaping, and hard surfaces. If we are removing existing materials, we do it carefully, and we do not leave your home exposed to weather. Any hidden issues we discover are documented and discussed with you right away. For a broader look at how we prep exteriors, see our guide on preparing for your exterior repairs.
5. Traditional Three Coat Stucco Application
Our stucco crews install lath and moisture management components correctly, then apply scratch, brown, and finish coats with the right thickness and curing times. This is where experienced craftsmen matter most. The goal is not just to look good the day we finish, but to perform for decades. If you are comparing stucco to other claddings, our post on the pros and cons of stucco explains where stucco really shines.
6. Final Walkthrough And Clean Up
When the stucco is complete, we walk the project with you, explain what was done, and take care of any small details. Then we clean up thoroughly so you are enjoying your new exterior, not dealing with a mess.
7. Ongoing Support
If you have questions after the project or notice anything you are unsure about, we are here. We want your stucco to look great and perform well, so we stand behind our work and help you understand how to care for your exterior over time. Frequently Asked Questions About Traditional Stucco In Salt Lake City
With proper installation and basic maintenance, a traditional three coat stucco system can last 50 years or more. The key is correct preparation, moisture management, and good detailing around windows, doors, and roof lines. When done right, stucco stands up very well to Utah’s climate.
Traditional stucco is a cement based system installed in three layers over a lath. It is hard, breathable, and very durable. EIFS or synthetic stucco uses foam insulation and a different coating system. Each has its place, but traditional stucco is often preferred for durability, impact resistance, and a classic look. If you are exploring different wall systems, our piece on home exteriors, stucco vs concrete shares more context.
It depends on the condition of your walls. Small, localized cracks and minor damage can often be repaired. When there are widespread cracks, bulging, or signs of water getting behind the stucco, full or partial replacement is usually the safer long term choice. During a free consultation, we will inspect your exterior and explain your options.
Pricing depends on factors like:
- Square footage of wall area
- Condition of existing materials
- Complexity of architecture and details
- Texture and finish selected
- Access and site conditions
The best way to get accurate pricing is to schedule a no obligation visit so we can measure, inspect, and provide a clear, written estimate tailored to your property.
Traditional stucco by itself is not insulation, but when combined with proper sheathing, air sealing, and sometimes added insulation, it can help stabilize indoor temperatures and protect against wind and moisture. Many homeowners notice improved comfort and energy performance when they address the entire wall system during a remodel. For more on siding and efficiency, you can read about the best siding options to keep your home insulated.
Smaller repair projects may take a few days. Full exterior stucco remodels or new installations can take anywhere from a week to several weeks, depending on the size and complexity of the home, weather conditions, and any additional work such as stone, siding, or window replacement. We provide a project timeline up front and keep you updated as we go.
